Adolescent Mentoring

Does your young person need someone to talk to?

Looking for a safe adult to support your adolescent?

They say that adolescent kids need 5 supportive and safe adults outside of their parents as a support network......does your child have the right support?

Peer Mentoring/Counselling is a safe environment based on activities and relationship building to get your adolescent child connected, to feel heard and seen, as well as support to work through things that may be on their mind.

With 1 in 4 young people experiencing bullying, it’s also estimated that up to 75% of young people who need support do not reach out. Adolescent years are the transitional point where they are figuring out where they belong, are emotionally sensitive, are cognitively maturing but lack the coping skills. Therefore providing support and a shoulder to listen without judgement, not fixing them, but offering guidance and encouragement can be the catalyst to building resilience and positive mental health.

Research shows that emotional distress and anxiety starts before the teen years with 1 in 7 young people experiencing anxiety or depression contributing to a mental health disorder, so early intervention can provide them with the tools to navigate and reduce anxiety and depression in the later years.

Peer Mentoring/Counselling is all about listening, encouraging, empowering and supporting young adolescent people to build confidence, resilience and skills to help navigate the challenges and years ahead and in turn encourage positive mental health strategies they can use.

Peer Mentoring/Counselling sessions are a client lead one on one session where we use a workbook as a guide but are lead by what the client is needing/wanting.

Such things we cover are:

Having worked in the Mindfulness industry for 8 years as a meditation practitioner, mindfulness coach and facilitator, I recently went on to complete my qualification in Mental Health and have been working with adolescent youth for the last 2 years. I use a holistic method which is based on evidence based and mindful techniques to support the client.

I have seen wonderful results over the years of people implementing strategies and tools into their every day life and am passionate about providing young people support so they have the coping strategies for when things get challenging later in life.
